Recent research detected about 70 cyber-fraud groups on Facebook with thousands of participants

Researchers of Cisco Talos team disclosed more than 70 Facebook groups that offered cyber-fraud services.

Participants of such communities proposed tools for spam sending, manipulations with users’ accounts up to obtaining IDSs, bank details and credit card numbers with CVVs. They also expressed interest in buying fake documents, entering governmental accounts and options for considerable sums of money transactions.

Overall 74 Facebook groups included 385 000 participants.

Talos Intelligence blog indicates that some of the communities existed and could realize their activity for more than 8 years prior to deletion.

“Once one or more of these groups has been joined, Facebook’s own algorithms will often suggest similar groups, making new criminal hangouts even easier to find. Facebook seems to rely on users to report these groups for illegal and illicit activities to curb any abuse”, – report Talos blog activists.
