FBI is fighting cyber threats

The FBI has announced a shift in focus from counterterrorism to countering the growing threat of cyber attacks. The reason for this decision was attacks in the digital space, which are initiated by the opponent states.

According to a report published by The Wall Street Journal, the FBI sees a threat primarily in China and Russia. China is suspected of stealing intellectual property, and Russia is trying to intervene in elections. The US Navy has already reported that cyber attacks are regularly being conducted from China.

The same information was confirmed by the head of the FBI, Christopher Ray, who said that the bureau’s investigation had brought it out against Chinese cybercriminals.

“This focus shift is very similar to the one that occurred after September 11,” explains Amy Hess, head of the FBI unit responsible for responding to cyber incidents.

“At that time I was working on solving various crimes related to violence, gangs and drugs. And then the “911“ attack happened and we were forced to shift the focus to the fight against terrorism. ”

The FBI are convinced that the digital space is the future. Consequently, opposition to various cyber threats comes to the fore.
