Nvidia prompts users to cancel fresh Windows 10 updates due to graphics card issues

Bleeping Computer reports that Nvidia employees are suggesting that users cancel Windows 10 updates and downgrade to earlier versions in order to solve the problems with games that have recently arisen with the use of the company’s graphics cards.

The fact is that after the April “update Tuesday” many gamers complain about the drop in FPS and constant freezes during the game.

For example, users write on Reddit that after installing the latest updates on their systems with RTX 3075 there were problems. At first, the victims thought that the patches damaged the OS or graphics driver, but reinstalling did not help.

“I have a huge problem using vsync. When vsync is active, it is impossible to maintain a stable 60fps. FTP drops like crazy to 55 or 40 frames. Without vsync, the same game renders at 180+ frames per second. I will not install any updates until they fix it”, — one of the users says.

Similar posts can be found on social media, the Windows 10 Feedback Hub, the Microsoft Community and BleepingComputer forums, and the Nvidia forums.

In response to these complaints, Nvidia employees are encouraging users to roll back the system by removing the March 2021 update KB5000842, as WindowsLatest soon noticed.

“If you are seeing performance degradation in games, please check if rolling back Windows 10 update KB5000842 / KB5001330 solves the problem”, — Nvidia representatives write on the forum.

The problem is that KB5000842 contains the same patches for Windows 10 as the April update KB5001330, but without the security fixes. And in April 2021, Microsoft fixed more than 100 vulnerabilities in its products, that is, it is highly discouraged to remove or not install this update.

Bleeping Computer advises users to wait: Microsoft developers should soon release another preliminary cumulative update, and then users can check if it solves problems with games.

If not, it is highly recommended that users try the most recent graphics drivers, or even roll back to older GPU drivers, before even thinking about removing security updates.

Let me remind you of a recent amazing story with the company, as Nvidia fights with miners: RTX 3060 performance will be understated, and then released the miner driver.
