Reqg Virus Removal Guide (+Decrypt .reqg files)

Reqg – General Info

Reqg is a malicious software working as common ransomware. Michael Gillespie, the widely known virus researcher, first found this new name in the DJVU ransomware family.

Reqg was created for the sole purpose to encrypt all popular file types. Realistically, as soon as the encryption is successfully accomplished, the users are unable to get access to them. Reqg virus adds its own “.reqg” to all the encrypted data. For example, the file “price_list.xls”, as soon as modified by Reqg, will be entitled as “price_list.xls.reqg”. As soon as the file encryption is accomplished, Reqg puts its own unique text file (_readme.txt) into all the folders that store the encrypted files.

The alert mentioned by _readme.txt requesting for the random os very comparable to the alerts offered by other ransomware hazards belonging to the DJVU family. The caution essentially shows that the data has been encrypted and the only service to get access to it is to use an unique standalone key. Regretfully, this declaration is definitely real.

The technique to encrypt the files utilized by Reqg is not totally investigated. However, there is no doubt that each computer owner may be issued an unique decryption key, which is absolutely unique. It is very hard to recuperate the data without the proper type in location.

“Don’t worry, you can return all your files!”, from _readme.txt message:

One more peculiarity of the Reqg virus is that the users are not able to get access to the key. The decrypting key is hosted on a special server under the total control by the crooks who have released the Reqg infection into the world wide web. In order to get the key and bring back the crucial information, the users are informed to get in touch with the scams through e-mail or by telegram and to pay the ransom in the quantity of $980.

The message likewise states that the people must call the Reqg authors within 72 hours upon the moment of the information encryption. The alert indicates that by doing so individuals will acquire a 50% discount rate, therefore, the ransom quantity falls to $490.

No matter what the amount of the ransom is, we highly recommend that you do not pay the ransom. There is no warranty that these online scoundrels will keep their guarantees, so they might not care at all what the victims feel about the encryption, even when the amount of the ransom is gotten into their accounts. Hence, paying ransom often does not lead to a successful healing. So, the users may just lose their money for nothing.

Similarly, we advise you not to contact the frauds as they instruct. Do not move loan into their wallets. There are no applications that could break the Reqg virus or restore the information for free. For that reason, the only right choice is to bring back the information from possible backups (if offered).

  • Good article, but it did not solve my problem. Emsisoft could not decrypt the new version of REQG FILE.
Notice from Emsisoft: this ID appears to be an online ID, decryption is impossible.

I tried to follow and apply all necessary software and youtube videos, but no happy result.

Hoping you will have a more powerful REQG decryptor soon.
