Developers that use in their extensions obfuscated code, should send new versions (without obfuscation) before June 10. Otherwise addons will be blocked.
“We update our policy on extensions for Firefor to reinforce users’ security and confidentiality. New rules will take effect on June 10, 2019. Extensions that contain obfuscated code, will nor further exist in browser. Minification and concatenation are allowed in present initial code” – wrote Mozilla developers in their blog.
Mozilla also plans to make process of blocking more transparent, so reasons for blocking or turning off some addons would be comprehensive for everybody.
Obfuscation (in Latin obfuscare – to shadow), also called code obfuscation – is adduction of initial text or code to a form that preserves is functionalisms but complicates analyses, understanding of algorithms and modification.
