Major news sites showed users hardcore porn

Well-known news sites like The Washington Post, New York Magazine, HuffPost and many others have been showing users hardcore porn for a while.

Users of major news sites have found that explicit porn videos are displayed in articles instead of regular videos. This was due to the sale of the vid[.]me domain, which had been out of service for several years and now has changed owners.

The Vice Motherboard was the first to draw attention to this problem.

Over at the Huffington Post, an article about Martin Shkreli being banned from Twitter is augmented with videos titled “Getting Into Porsha’s Ass” and “Why Don’t We Tag Team Your GF?” A pre-Trump-presidency Uproxx article about Trump’s performance at a GOP debate is illustrated with thumbnails for videos titled “Aria Lee Is Back For More” and “Naughty Spy Girls Part 2.Vice Motherboard says.

Journalists say that adult content appeared on news sites after the vid[.]me domain acquired the 5 Star Porn HD porn site and turned on a redirect for the domain to that very porn site. As a result, hard porn appeared on the pages of publications where videos with vid[.]me were previously embedded.

The Vidme service appeared in 2014, and was originally conceived as some kind of a mixture of YouTube and Reddit, but already in 2017 the site stopped working, unable to withstand the competition from Google and Facebook. This was followed by a blog post from the project stating that Vidme had been sold to Giphy and all videos would be permanently removed on December 15, 2017. This meant that all iframes embedding Vidme videos on other sites had to stop displaying or show anything. error message. But something went wrong.

According to WHOIS, the domain registration and owner were updated this month. It seems that the domain registration simply expired, and 5 Star HD Porn managed to buy it, which eventually redirected all links leading to vid [.] Me to their porn site.

It is unclear if the incident was a mistake or if someone at 5 Star HD Porn found it possible to advertise a porn site in this way. The company did not respond to requests from journalists.

Let me remind you that we talked about the fact that Twitter Hacking Hearing Held At Zoom And Interrupted By Porn Videos, and also that Facebook and Google are monitoring porn users.
