In the international operation law enforcement officers closed DeepDotWeb that is a one of the main DarkNet portals

FBI, Interpol and police from Germany, Israel, Netherlands and Brazil conducted a joint operation and closed DeepDotWeb website.

Site reported about DarkNet news and catalogued resources of the “Internet’s wrong side”. This “DarkNet guide” was updated daily, operative reported about closing of resources, their new names, exit scans, wrote about other issues of trading platforms etc.

In Israel, according to the local media, were arrested two DeepDotWeb operators. Other arrests were conducted in Germany, France, Netehrlands and Brazil.

However, issue was not in the news, apparently.

Investigators insist that DeepDotWeb operators received commission for traffic redirection on the illegal darknet resources. The case is that in the DeepDotWeb catalogue links on any resources were in the open access, including links on trading platforms where were sold weapons, drugs, malware, stolen data, pornography etc. However, not law enforcement structures give no details about the “commission”.

As investigated TechCrunch journalists, website’s administration earned on their catalogues millions of dollars.

“DeepDotWeb have made millions of dollars in commission by offering referral links to dark web marketplaces, accessible only at .onion domains over the Tor Network. Tor bounces internet traffic through a series of random relay servers dotted across the world, making it near-impossible to trace the user”, — report TechCrunch sources.

It is highly possible that DeepDotWeb elimination is a part of a full-scale fight of authorities against darknet-resources.

deepdotweb seized

It is worth reminding that on the last week with the common efforts from different countries were closed two big underground marketplaces: Wall Street Market and Valhalla (aka Silkkitie).
