Cyber-bullies hacked Donald Trump campaign official website

Yesterday, unknown attackers hacked into the official website of Donald Trump election campaign (donaldjtrump[.]com) and joked on its contents.

The hack, first noted by Gabriel Lorenzo Greschler on Twitter, seemingly took place shortly before 4 PM Pacific time. The attackers placed a rather ironic “stub” on the resource’s home page.

The attackers most likely accessed the backend of the donaldjtrump.com web server and inserted a long piece of obfuscated JavaScript, creating a parody of the FBI message “This site has been hijacked” that appeared over normal content.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the burglars’ message also poked fun at Donald Trump’s information policy.

“The site was hijacked because the world was tired of the fake news that President Donald Trump spreads every day. It’s time to let the world know the truth”, — said the hacker-created stub.

The hackers also said that they had compromised several devices of Trump and his entourage, and now they have various classified information, including data on the origin of the coronavirus.

Along with this, the criminals published the addresses of two cryptocurrency wallets, inviting everyone to “vote” for or against the publication of this data by donating Monero to one of the wallets.

Monero is a cryptocurrency that is easy to send but quite difficult to trace. For this reason, it has come to be associated with dubious operations such as this hack.

One address was for people who would like to release “highly classified information”, the other was for those who would prefer to keep it secret. After an indefinite period, the total amount of the cryptocurrency will be compared, and the higher amount will determine what was done with the data.

Most likely, it was just a ploy to get more money from users.

Dayface stayed on the site for about half an hour, after which the resource returned to normal. There is no evidence that anything other than one page was accessed, such as donators’ data.

Donald Trump’s headquarters spokesman, Tim Murto, has already made an official statement.

“No confidential data was compromised during the attack, and law enforcement agencies are already investigating what happened”, – said Tim Murto.

Last week, Dutch security researcher Victor Gevers said he was able to crack Trump’s Twitter password on his fifth attempt and successfully hack it. And recently Unknowns hacked accounts of Reddit moderators for campaigning for Trump.
