Recently, researchers noticed that OnePlus recent update deliberately slows down 300 apps. Some applications on devices of the Chinese company OnePlus became slower after the update.

For example, it turned out that Chrome is limited to only Cortex-A55 cores and does not use the main processing power of the Snapdragon 888 available in the more powerful A78 and X1 cores. As a result, in some tests, Chrome shows results that are 75-85% lower than expected.

This study drew attention to the authors of the popular benchmark application Geekbench and excluded the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro from the results, saying that they considered this behavior to be a form of test manipulation.

As a result, the events forced OnePlus representatives to give an official comment, and, oddly enough, the company confirmed the conclusions made by Andrei Frumusanu.

At the same time, Frumusanu notes that similar behavior of OnePlus smartphones was observed earlier, and did not appear after the recent update, as the company assures. According to him, the slow operation of applications back in March was noted in reviews of new devices, for example, on the PhoneArena or NoteBookCheck sites.
