New day, new data breach. British Airways hacked and 380 000 customers are exposed

One of the best airlines in the world revealed the horrible news: every customer who bought a ticket between 21 August and 5 September has been exposed. The company confirmed this on official Twitter account claiming that all names, addresses, and banking information were stolen. The good news is that the hackers didn’t get victim’s passport numbers and travel details.

Why does it happen no one knows, but British Airways convinces that the case will be investigated.

“We are investigating, as a matter of urgency, the theft of customer data from our website and our mobile app,” the company said in a statement. “The stolen data did not include travel or passport details.”

What to do if you are a victim? Specialists suggest victims to “contact their banks or credit card providers and follow their recommended advice.” You can’t avoid or predict such leaks, but we suggest to work only with reliable companies, use different passwords on banking accounts and personal accounts on all sites. So if one of them is hacked all other ones are secured.
