Keyboard hijacked by spyware. How to fix?

“…Windows receiving false key presses (as if a key is being held down)”

Recently I have been receiving several complains from users whose keyboard seemed to be hijacked by some unknown form of spyware. The problem was in permanent occurrence of false key presses. It looked like the key was being held down, whereas users did not do that. After restarting the computer the problem kept taking place, with different keys being hijacked from time to time.

Users reported that restarting the system did not actually help and the keyboard was still hijacked as explained above. Moreover, there were fake keystrokes even when the keyboard was completely disconnected. So, what can cause such problems and how can they be fixed?

In some cases above-said problems may take place when the keyboard (or some of its keys) are damaged, or when there are some sticky keys enabled. However, based on the feedback from our customers the very keyboard hijacking took place even without enabling sticky keys, and on brand new PCs that they had recently purchased.

It is obvious that the trouble related to keyboard hijacking as stipulated in the paragraphs above is caused by certain malicious software that is now partially in control of your workstation. I recommend that you undertake the measures set forth below to perform thorough system cleanup with proper anti-spyware software.
