Cloudflare failure lead to inaccessibility of millions of sites around the world

Failure of Cloudflare systems has affected websites around the world.

Currently, the problem has been fixed, however many users may have discovered that some popular sites are inavailable.

According to Cloudflare statistics, more than 16 million web resources use company services to increase productivity, protect against DDoS and other useful functions. Based on this figure, we can assume that the failure of Cloudflare influenced the work of a large number of sites on the web.

It is known that Bleeping Computer was a victim of this incident.

Representatives of the cybersecurity resource have already confirmed this information. Cloudflare has published a crash report entitled “Route Leak Impacting Cloudflare“. From the material it can be understood that the cause of the incident lies in the leakage of the BGP route.

“We have identified a possible route leak impacting some Cloudflare IP ranges and are working with the network involved to resolve this”, — reported in Cloudflare.

This lead to the fact that traffic passed through incorrect networks, which resulted in poor performance, problems with routing and, like an epilogue, a failure in the operation of Cloudflare-dependent sites.

Responsible persons stated that all problems were resolved, therefore, at the moment all resources should work in a regular mode.
