Everybody loves social networks. Be honest now, if you’re a teenager, you probably can’t imagine your life without at least one of them! And your morning starts not with coffee 🙂

It’s alright to prefer staying connected with your friends 24/7 and learn the news which you’ve chosen immediately after waking up. There are a huge variety of fast and fun ways of connection, and they can be safe & enjoyable while you follow some simple tips of the secure social networks using.

Here’re your top-10 rules to take care of your privacy:

10. Use a Nickname
The using of a nickname instead of your real name will reduce the opportunity of you being harassed. By the way, please assure that your nickname is not sexually suggestive or offensive to others.

9. Limit the visibility of your profiles.
Set your profile to private – make your personal data and posts visible only to the people that you’ve invited.

8. Keep personal information to yourself.
Don’t share your phone number, address or other personal details to unfamiliar people on the web. Don’t reveal your current or planned location – this way you’re protecting yourself from spying and harm in the real world, which can come from the virtual.

7. Post thoughtfully.
Don’t share any provocative photos or intimate details through the web, even in private conversations! Anything that has been upload to the Internet could be copied and made public. You cannot take it back or remove it later.

6. Update your antivirus on a regular base.
There are many people using social networks. Cyber criminals are aware of this fact, and they use stealthy tactics in order to infect the computers of people who use them.

5. Stay skeptic.
Not all the people are so nice, that it seems in their messages. Sometimes it’s all about manipulation with the purpose to get something from you. Be careful while meeting new friends in the web.

4. Beware of in-person meetings.
If you really-really need to get together with someone you’ve ‘met’ on the web, don’t go alone, choose a public place, tell your parents where will you be.

3. Be polite.
Don’t harass or bully anyone online. Firstly, it’s the best way to avoid someone will harassing and bullying you. Moreover, it can also be considered a criminal offense.

2. Block vs Response ?
If someone on the web makes you feel nervous, block them and don’t respond. If they continue, let your parents or another adult know.

1. Use your mobile phone carefully.
Phones are with you wherever you are, so please be careful about who you give your number to and how you use GPS and other technologies that can reveal your physical location.
