LeakedSource website operators confessed in trading personal data

Defiant Tech Company that manages Leaked Source resource confessed in trading personal information and property ownership, obtained as a result of criminal actions.

LeakedSource website started its work in 2015 and by 2016 became quite famous. Its authors, Defiant Tech Inc. Company, collected dumps of various data leaks (both from open access and directly from hackers) and sold access to this giant database to everyone that wanted to buy it.

Among available on website data listed full names of users, nicknames, emails, physical addresses, phone numbers and opened passwords.

Operation Project Adoration started in 2016, when Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) became aware about LeakedSource servers on the Canadian territory. Service was closed in January 2017, and in December 2017 Royal Canadian Mounted Police in cooperation with FBI and Dutch police arrested its operator Jordan Evan Bloom.

At that time, law enforcements reported that Bloom managed website under coverage of Defiant Tech Inc., servers of which located in Quebec.

Official accusations in trade of identification data Bloom received in January 2018, and this week he acknowledged his fault in trade by foreign credentials, and possessing property that was achieved as a result of crime.

“We are pleased with this latest development. This is all thanks to the relentless efforts put by our men and women working in the National Division Cybercrime Investigative Team. I am immensely proud of this outcome as combatting cybercrime is an operational priority for us”, — superintendent Mike Maclean, Officer in Charge Criminal Operations of the RCMP National Division said

In the recent release of Canadian police is reported that LeakedSource operator have earned about $183 000 until resource was closed. Between 2016 and 2017 on the website was available information about 3.1 billion of accounts, including dumps from Twitter, Last.fm, LinkedIn, VK.com, AdultFriendFinder, Mate1, Shadi, Weebly etc.

According to the investigation by independent internet-security journalist Brain Krebs, Blood did not manage LeakedSource alone. Krebs assured that he had an accomplice – US citizen Jeremy Wade. However, Wade did not face any accusations.
