Firefox Beta 67 will be able to protect users from fingerprinting and cryptocurrency mining scripts

New Firefox version will enable users to block collecting fingerprints scripts and various cryptominers that are imposed by web-marketers and unscrupulous web-site users.

Fingerprints and miners, implemented in web-site pages, bring no direct harm to users. Fingerprints allow advertisers trace user’s activity on the Internet, dipping in history of his search and interests. Mainers simply bring profit to site owners, using computer’s resources. Cryptomainers are one of the most common parasitic programs.

According to Mozilla explanation, Firefox Beta 67 contains protection as from taking digital fingerprints and from mining by the means of user’s computer. These options would work basing on black list of websites that impose both things. The browser’s new anti-tracking technology is powered by “Disconnect” company, which has provided a list of domains that serve these abusive scripts.

Script blocking will be a part of already existing Firefox function, known as «Content Blocking». User can find it in «Privacy & Security» browser tab in browser settings and should tick the boxes next to the “Cryptominers” and “Fingerprinters” options.
